On my laptop there is an account for me and another for my wife. If we move from one account to the other the computer will crash and reset instead of going to sleep mode. Sometimes it will give me a blue screen when about 5 minutes after switching. Any thoughts on this?

It is running Vista.

Hello Sgovia,
I'm a little confused by your post:
"If we move from one account to the other the computer will crash and reset instead of going to sleep mode."

So, you'd like it to go into Sleep Mode when you switch users? How about just when your wife switches to her account? :)
No, but really. Thank you for including which Operating System you are using, that's always a great help.
A quick Google Search gives me the following:

"-Finally (this seems to be what did the trick), we went into MSCONFIG, deactivated everything, and I read each item to Gateway tech support, who told me what to check and what not to check (basically, anything with Microsoft, Intel, or our Virus Scan/Firewall programs were allowed to remain, everything else was deactivated). It now seems to work just fine!"

...though I'm not sure if this addresses your issue, it's not clear to me where Sleep Mode comes into play.

If you're unsure about using msconfig, please follow these directions:
Click the Start Bubble, and click Run or type 'msconfig' into the search box. Msconfig can also be found manually at %Windows folder%\ System32\msconfig.exe.
When the msconfig window opens, you will see that you're able to dictate which Programs/ Services etc. Start up automatically when you boot your computer.

Please Be Very Careful with MsConfig. It's easy to disable features that you may like to retain using this utility. Click on the 'Startup' tab to de-activate extraneous programs which may be inhibiting your wife's sleeping patterns. When you are done, click 'Apply', 'Ok', and restart your computer.

Good Luck, and feel free to come back if you need further assistance.

You should be sure if your anti-virus software is working properly and if not you should consider changing it. In this way I recommend you to use Kaspersky. I use it too and it's very good, it's highly professional.
